Camp Chef

Job Description

You will be responsible for providing meals for campers and staff during the English Explorers summer camp program, preparing meals for special diets, ordering food and cleaning/organizing the kitchen and appliances. In addition, cooks are responsible for maintaining general cleaning and meal records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of food service for the residential camp
  • Work with administrative staff on camp menu planning
  • Ensure cleanliness of food preparation and delivery areas
  • Responsible for rotating stock when new orders are checked -in
  • Place food orders in a timely manner
  • Check-in all food/ supply orders
  • Prepare all meals on time as scheduled or assigned by the camp manager
  • Knowledge of food allergies and dietary requirements of the staff and campers, and the ingredients that may cause the allergy.
  • Be willing and prepared to meet special food requirements for both campers and staff eg gluten-free and vegetarian diets;
  • Have food items available for staff on days off
  • Keep the kitchen clean and in accordance with Department of Health regulations at all times.
  • Report any accidents or injuries to the camp manager;

Duration & Compensation

This position is seasonal and will require full time work across 5 days each week over 5 weeks. The duration of employment will vary based on camp schedules. Accommodation and meals will be covered during each session and 2 days off are allocated between each session.
